Summer Continues...
The summer continues with adventures and insanity. There is always something to clean up, to learn, to hear about, to film, to create, or to read. The boys have been busy! The heat has been killer here these last few weeks so we've spent a fair amount of time inside. We've done peanut butter play dough, legos, trishman videos, legos, making Briggs soup, wrestling/tickling, playing with water in the sink, and reading.
We did splurge and get a pass to the Discovery Gateway museum. It's been fun and a great close resource to go and spew out some energy. The water table has been a huge source of fun - with water fights, chalk/water investigating, and just being wet. For the 24th of July here in Utah we have festivities celebrating the Utah Pioneers. A new arena was built for the rodeo this year in the State Fairpark (fairly close to us) so we received free tickets to the rodeo. It was so much fun for Briggs - but Noah was tired and Myles wasn't very entertained so they went home. He loved being outside, watching the animals, jumping over/around the seats, and just being with his friends. It was neat to see him so happy. Also for the holiday we went to the float preview event (an opportunity to walk through and see the floats up close which will run in the 24th of July parade), and the boys enjoyed it. I enjoyed it! We got there right when it opened, got to see the marching band and there weren't so many floats we were overwhelmed - which was lovely. We also visit many libraries - so many libraries. Good news - the City library will not longer be charging fines (yes it will come out of my taxes but that's okay with me). The County library gave us some fine vouchers for the summer reading challenge, so that's a bonus too. The reading challenge is too structured for Myles, but Briggs and Noah are cruising along to get their prizes and be enrolled for the lottery of big prizes.
We could probably do more swimming and hiking, but all in due time. ;) Family is coming into town in the next few weeks (can't wait!) and family vacations await. I can't believe school begins in 4 weeks. I don't have the heart to tell Myles how close it is yet, but we've had a few conversations about school lately. We're hopeful this year will be a year full of strides and friendship. For Briggs it will be a fun, new year in preschool. He's excited but doesn't love wearing underwear so that may take a bit more time. Noah won't know what hit him when his brothers are gone... it will be a unique time for him.
